8: The Mormon Proposition

So, "8:The Mormon Proposition" premiered yesterday at Sundance.

So, has anyone seen it and what did you think of it?

I've only seen the trailor, but much of the content I've heard about and I know a few of the producers. It's quite a slam on the church, and of course quite sensationalized for effect. Politics always are. But I think it will create an emotional rise from many people that will (eventually and slowly) push the church to approach homosexuality in a more realistic way.

I see this as the next civil rights issue for the church. It's a painful thing for any organization to admit they could have had something wrong, but the way I view it is that truth and love eventually prevail over pride, so this is one way the issue is kept in the forefront, and like the civil rights movement in the 60's and 70's, it will force the leaders to really think this through and pray for an answer that is love based.

I look forward to that day.

I know that film producer, Reed Cowan deliberately cast the most radical, right-wing, extremists hate groups (who just happen to be Mormon) for this film. He totally ignores the thousands of moderate, fair-minded, gentle, kind, considerate, compassionate and reasonable LDS people.

Those of you who read my posts know that I have repeated called for the LDS Church to formally distance itself from the radical, right-wing, extremist hate groups featured in Reed Cowan's film by simply refusing to let them use the official name of the church or any church copyrighted materials. I don't know what more can be done.

If it premiered at Sundance it won't be available until after it has a theatrical release, could be months. Or, find it at other film fests before then.
